Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Tallahassee – Thursday

We went for the last day today since tomorrow is the “move that bus” at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Unfortunately we both have to work and can’t get out there. When we got there we were amazed at how the house was almost done. Once we got up there, a truck from Ashley’s was pulling up and the film crew had the volunteers line up along the road and had the truck drive between them. They did this twice and the second time Ty, Paige, Mike and John came running out of the house to unload the truck. Then the volunteers and the staff carried the furniture into the house. They also did a few clips of all the volunteers running into the house and clapping. Was interesting to see how scripted a show like this is and how many takes it takes to get the footage correct.

Below are some photos I took from today which turned out pretty well. I am glad we got to experience this and glad Kristine finally got to see Ty and Page.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Tallahassee – Wednesday

Today we decided to skip the bus and park in a co-workers yard and walk to the house. The bus is great and Mike of Mike’s Limo’s is really nice, but it would take us about 30-40 minutes from the time we parked to get to the house. Parking in our co-workers yard was only a half mile walk and much quicker. Anyways, the house is nearing completion and was looking really good. We could see them painting inside and they were putting up the garage doors as well. We didn’t see any of the stars working on the house but did see Mike leaving. He was in a Leon County van taking him somewhere; my guess is his hotel. We hung around till 7 and then left for home. Hopefully today, for Kristine’s sake, Ty or Paige will be there. Those are the two she so desperately wants to see. We also heard a rumor today that Martina McBride will be at the opening of the house tomorrow. Kristine so wants to be able to go but she doesn’t have any time off since she has to save her vacation time for our trip to Philly. Below are some pics I took; enjoy!

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Tallahassee – Tuesday

We went by the house again today after work but it looked mostly the same as it had from the exterior. A lot of work had begun on the interior. Kristine did get to see Paige but only in a van as it left the construction site. It seems most of the cast is only there while we are at work and leave when we get there.

One interesting thing Kristine heard while at the site was the crew was filming the family shopping at an undisclosed store; well of course they were at Sears. Kristine, the stalker she is, convinced me to drive to the Governor Square Mall so we could scope them out and see if they were really there. Low and behold there was a huge limo out front of the Sears. We went around to the side entrance and got to watch them film the family coming into the mall to shop. Was neat to finally see the family and it is sad they couldn’t go on vacation and are still stuck in Tallahassee.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Tallahassee – Monday

We went back, this time as spectators, to view the house. It is amazing how much was done in 24 hours since we were there! Evidently only one of the ’stars’, Michael Moloney, was there when we were there. As a spectator, we had to load up on a bus near I-10 and they dropped us off at the same place as when we worked. Mike, of Mike’s Moving and Limosines was our driver which was interesting. I had never met him before but have seen his signs and limo’s all over the place.

Below are some photos we took. It is really amazing how much they got done in such a short time. Hopefully when we go back today after work, we will see Kristine’s favorites Ty and Paige.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Tallahassee – Sunday

Kristine and I were lucky enough to be able to be a part of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Sunday night. We worked a shift from 6:30 PM till 12:30 AM and loved every second of it. When we got there, we kinda sat around waiting until they needed some workers. They had poured the foundation after lunch and were waiting for it to firm up. Around 7 they finally called for us and we climbed the hill to the house.

Once there, we were tasked with digging the dirt away from the framing setup around the foundation. We needed to dig the dirt out so we could pull the boards away. Once we had done that, they had us pry up the boards and supports away from the foundation. After that, they had us put the dirt back up against the foundation six inches away from the top.

Next, we basically shoveled dirt around trying to flatten the ground out for the framers who were coming at 5 am. We also had to pick up any of the remaining parts of the house demolition that were around the property and in the shrubs.

Once we had done all this work they sent us to go grab some grub in the catering tent. Applebee’s was serving the food but there were not that many people there. Around 11 p.m. they sent us home early saying that we were no longer needed since nothing was going to happen till 5 a.m. As we were leaving, the crew from Applebee’s gave us the left over food! We got a ton of food now… and good food!
